Ordering:

Scanning the original photo:
  • You can bring the photo to a local print shop to be scanned or if you own a good scanner you can scan it yourself.
  • Make sure that any sharpening, descreening, dust and scratch removal, filters and color correction functions available with the scanner software are turned off.
  • For the best restoration quality, the photo needs to be scanned at 600 DPI optical.
  • If available on your scanner, set the bit-depth of your scan to 48bit if scanning in color, and 16bit if B&W.
If your scanner does not support 48 or 16 bit use 24 or 8-bit respectively. (High bit depth scans will be much larger in file size).
  • Save scanned photo as a .tif file with NO compression. If you are on a Mac, please add the .tif extension.

Next steps:
  • When the email arrives, we will review your instructions and photo and contact you with a quote.
  • You will need to review and accept the cost estimate, and make the advance deposit of 50% of the price.
  • Upon completion of the repair work, a digital copy of the final image will be transmitted to your email address for your approval.  You will be able to examine the image on-screen and indicate your corrections, if any.
  • Upon receipt of your deposit we will start the repair work.
  • On final approval, you will need to make the balance of the payment and upon receipt, we will send you the finalized version of your photo.
